Will Maryland’s military personnel get to vote in this election?
By State House Examiner Reporter, J Doug Gill
President Barack Obama signed the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (MOVE) into law last October. The MOVE act, introduced as the result of 17,000 overseas ballots not being counted in the 2008 election, requires states to send absentee ballots to overseas military troops 45 days before an election.
However, according to two former Department of Justice attorneys the DOJ is not only ignoring the new law, but is also encouraging states to apply for “waivers” that will allow them to bypass the legislation.
