Help Save Maryland – Arizona Round 1 to Illegal Aliens & Their Supporters

Subject: Help Save Maryland – Arizona Round 1 to Illegal Aliens & Their Supporters

CLINTON APPOINTED JUDGE BACKS ILLEGALS

In a shocking but not surprising ruling, US District Judge Susan Bolton today halted implementation of the main portions of the Arizona law enforcing the law against illegal aliens. WTOP reported that Bolton, appointed by former President Clinton (D), halted portions of the law including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also delayed parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places, a move aimed at day laborers (good news!). In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.

"Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked," Bolton, a Clinton appointee, said in her decision.

AZ Governor Brewer is expected to appeal the decision of this lawless, open borders judge, so the battle for America is far from over!

One again, Elections DO Matter, so please be prepared to vote in upcoming primaries across Maryland in the coming weeks and the general elections in the fall.

SUPPORT ARIZONA AND MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
RALLY AT NATS STADIUM SUNDAY, AUGUST 15

Radical, anti-American groups like La Raza and CASA of Maryland continue to threaten Arizona citizens and Major League Baseball. Using their illegal alien clientele as protesters (see link) they are demanding the 2011 Baseball All-Star Game be moved out of Phoenix, Arizona as part of their state-wide boycott.

ANOTHER SHOCKER, THIS TIME IN MARYLAND

As part of HSM’s Education and Outreach initiatives, we periodically report on the position of various political parties in Maryland with regard to their stance on illegal immigration.

In a recent letter to members of the Maryland Republican Party, President Audrey Scott released a multi-page announcement openly denouncing illegal immigration in our state. Strong words were also used to condemn the practices of CASA of Maryland, the illegal aliens non-profit of choice.

In comparing Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger to Frederick Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, I stated that Manger never met an illegal alien he did NOT want to detain, arrest and support. My apologizes to Chief Manger as nothing could be further from the truth. Manger refuses to openly work with federal authorities to enforce the law against illegal aliens. His shoddy police work is a major reason why Montgomery County has thousands of outstanding warrants for wanted criminal illegal aliens.

Let me also apologize in comparing Manger to Mayberry Deputy Barney Fife. Despite his limitations, Deputy Fife did try to the best of his abilities to enforce the law. Manger could learn a few things about honesty and duty from Deputy Fife.

More Health Care Spin from the State of Maryland

Subject: More Health Care Spin from the State of Maryland

Header
jeff,

The Baltimore Sun, Washington Post, and the Salisbury Daily Times reported yesterday on findings from the Maryland Health Care Reform Coordinating Council. According to this O’Malley-appointed commission, the state of Maryland will “save” $800 million and insure 300,000 more citizens thanks to greater federal spending. We can expect this type of bunk to be published by various groups over the next few years for political reasons.

One of the items under-reported by the media is that the Maryland Health Care Reform Coordinating Council is nothing more than an appointed group of politicians, bureaucrats, and O’Malley administration officials. They have a vested political interest to positively spin the most unpopular policy in decades. AFP-Maryland’s April poll found that voters in Maryland’s swing 1st Congressional District viewed Obamacare very unfavorably. The MHCRCC, chaired by Lt. Gov Anthony Brown, is trying to make the politicians look good at the expense of the public.

Another fact about government commissions: they have terrible track records. In 1965, the federal government actuary predicted the newly enacted Medicare Part A program would only cost $9 billion annually by 1990 – the actual cost was $65 billion. We all know you can’t get something for nothing – so how does adding more than 300,000 to the insurance rolls cut costs? The answer: it doesn’t.

The same crowd who supported a government takeover of our health care, want to try to repackage and resell it to the American public. It didn’t work the first 5 times, so they continue to persuade us that more government intervention and more spending is what we need. They think that eventually Americans will come to realize that the government will take care of everything from cradle to grave.

We must fight back!

We need to respond to these newspaper reports by writing letters-to-the-editor. Make sure you include the following when you respond to the article “Md. Could save $829M under health care reform”:

  • the Maryland Health Care Reform Coordinating Council is nothing more than political appointees who have a vested interest in positively spinning a terrible piece of legislation
  • even after the liberal rebranding of Obamacare, recent opinion polls show the public still does not want a government take over of health care (feel free to cite our poll)
  • government commissions have terrible track records predicting program costs – the health care bill will force tax hikes, increase government spending, and take away our personal freedoms

Campaign Signs, How do you feel about them?

Well, since we are getting close to the election and it is moving in on us rather quickly, I thought I would write a little piece about Campaign Signs, what do they accomplish, how do you feel about certain locations, and whether you don’t mind people and business’s putting up signs for Democrats and Republicans together.

Let’s start with the later first.  In Washington County, I have recently noticed quite a few Sheriff Doug Mullendore signs on properties and business’s that are being placed with Republican Signs, the Sheriff in fact is a Democrat.  I haven’t taken any pictures yet, but I did send the Sheriff an email, and it basically goes something like this.  Dear Sheriff, did you know that you have your signs with Republican Candidates that are not supporting your campaign and it is blocking their signs?  Did you obtain permission from those candidates and from the business to put your sign with them?

So, I have notified the candidates who signs were being affected and the Sheriff’s Candidate, Jim Woods who is running against him.  I find this highly unethical, and I still have not received a response back from the Sheriff.  He is also doing some things on County Tax Payer time that I will be questioning him on as well, such as Deputies going around the County putting up Sheriff Mullendore sign, allegedly.  Again, what permission do you have to put up signs, taking time away for the Citizens of Washington County and using County property, IE, Patrol Cars to do so?  So, that leads me to the question, how do you feel about your Candidate(s) sign being mixed in with someone you do not support and who is part of a different affiliation?  Do you find this misleading to the Voter since most of the signs nowadays does not promote party affiliation, but the person only?  If you were just new to the County and you saw these signs mixed in together, you would have no idea who is supporting who, if at all, and what party affiliation they are part of.  To me, Sheriff Mullendore, should be putting his signs in a separate location and not putting them with Republican Candidates.  I don’t know the laws per say on Campaign signs, but to me, it’s just not ethical and it most certainly is Politically Incorrect.

So you see a sign promoting a Candidate, what does the sign mean to you?  Does it accomplish its goal of getting you interested in the Candidate?  Do you remember the name come voting time?  How about researching.  Do you find yourself looking up the Candidate to see their accomplishments and party they belong to?  I, for one, always take notice of the signs and do some research on the Candidate.  It is very important to become familiar with someone you may vote for, not because the are a D or an R, but because you want to know if the Candidate is going to be worthy of your vote, what you believe in, are they truly part of the community or are they just looking to move forward in their political agendas?  I think by now, we all know why Maryland is such a blue state, I think it mostly comes from being programmed as a child through your parents to accept the party affiliation of your parents, therefore, since most of Maryland has always been a Blue Dog, there is no sense in voting for an Elephant, right? Oh, but that is wrong, let me explain.  I grew up the child of a very Democratic family, but as I got older and learned more about politics, I eventually switched over to Republican because their values are the values and goals I set for myself.  So when I look at a Candidates name now, I thoroughly research the Candidate, after all, in the day and age of Obama looking over your shoulder and taking away you’re Liberties, it probably is a good idea to do a little research first so you don’t end up voting for someone who is taking away from your quality of life, if you believe in your values.

Now, here is another question for you.  Does it matter to you where signs are located?  Do you like them away from business’s, on business corners, on your property, on billboards, or any other choice?  Me, I like to see them away from Business’s but I understand why they do it.  There is a lot of traffic in and out of the location and having support from business’s can be good for the campaign.  I also like it when some campaigns use billboards, they can be unique in itself.

Anyways, that was just some random thoughts for the day regarding campaign signs.  Feel free to share your opinions.

Washington County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs Candidates Night Out

Subject: Washington County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs Candidates Night Out

WCFSC Sponsors 2010 Candidate Forum

The Washington County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs will sponsor a meet the candidates’ night on July 27, 2010 starting at 6:00 PM. {Rain date 7-29-10}. This event will be hosted by the Potomac Fish & Game Club. PF&G is located off Speilman Rd., at the end of Falling Waters Road, where it meets the Potomac River, south of Williamsport Maryland. This will be the only event sponsored by the WCFSC during this election season that our membership, sports community, friends, neighbors, and all County, State, and District Federal Candidates will attend at the same time.

Sportspeople, like Politicians, have a tendency to travel within their own circle of friends and supporters. This event will give an opportunity to widen both the public and politician’s loop of acquaintances, and provide an opportunity for each to better understand what each expects of the other. Through the years it’s become increasingly necessary that we sportspeople become more involved within the political atmosphere of our Towns, County, State and Nation. With our constant pursuit to maintain our God-given rights as described in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States, we now more than ever must truly identify and positively know our elected representatives prior to electing them. We can no longer depend on a margin of error. We must elect representatives who will have the integrity and courage to support their constituents’ wishes once in office. Our freedoms depend on voter education and numbers. This event will help serve that mission. We as responsible citizens must influence voters who possibly have never been to the polls before. The days of politicians who ignore voters that put them in office must become a thing of the past.

All candidates are being invited as they continue to file for office. A questionnaire is included with their invitations. Those questions will help the WCFSC determine who will best represent our interests not only as sportsmen, but all tax paying citizens. Our overall desire is to produce a group of candidates who not only best represent sportspeople, but also our friends, neighbors and general population. Our publicized endorsements we hope will be of great value to all voters of all parties.

NOTE: This event is open and free to everyone of VOTING age. CANDIDATES, your completed and signed questionnaire is your TICKET in, and a must to participate. Your questionnaire will be collected by a member of the PF&G security staff at the entrance gate. Your name will then be placed on our list for your later public introduction. There will be two guest speakers. Theirs will be the only speeches of the evening. Dress is casual. No Ties. We’ll be there to get to know each other, talk politics, and in general have a good time at a great location. A “lite” BBQ type meal will be available at a less than a fast food price. There will be a cash bar for soft and adult drinks. We will also have a 50/50, and games of chance. ALL profits again will go toward publishing our after primary endorsements.

Best regards,

President Ray Givens, Officers, & BOD, WCFSC.

Howard County Tax Payer Protection Initiative (TPI)

Petition Signing Mass Mailing

Howard County, MD July 20, 2010

An initiative by Republicans to limit taxes in Howard County has now been expanded to include a new mass mailing campaign. Letters should begin to appear in mailboxes across the county this weekend. A swift response from citizens is needed to meet the critical August 9 deadline to get this on the ballot this fall.

The TPI will make it more difficult to raise property, income, and room rental taxes by requiring a supermajority vote on the Howard County Council. It will require a vote of four out of five instead of the current three out of five members to increase these taxes.

Protects Howard County tax payers

Maryland taxpayers are bracing for huge tax increases in 2011 as the State government seeks to reduce its deficit by requiring counties to “share” the burden and providing them new authority to raise taxes. A successful referendum in November will make it more difficult to raise county taxes.

Concerned citizens are encouraged to stop by our other locations to sign the petition including the Howard County Republican Headquarters located at 9054 Chevrolet Drive in Ellicott City, The Howard County Fair August 7 & 8, Eggspectations, Savage Mill and your local libraries.

Individuals may print your own petition and obtain more information on line by going to www.Kittleman.com-taxpayer-initiative, www.howardcountygopclub.com or Facebook at “Taxpayer Protection Initiative” All parties interested in assisting with this effort should call 410-461-3592.

Maryland to save $829 million under national health care reform

National health care reform is expected to save Maryland $829 million over the next decade and provide coverage to nearly 350,000 people — reducing the number of uninsured in the state by half, according to a report released by state officials Monday.

The savings will be achieved by supplanting state spending with increased federal funding for health care programs for those who can’t afford it, according to the report from the Maryland Health Care Reform Coordinating Council, which was convened a day after the 2,000-page federal legislation was signed into law in March.

Sanctuary Cities: Dangerous & Deadly – Great Article on Cities and States Breaking Federal Immigration Laws and Getting away with it!!!

Sanctuary Cities: Dangerous & Deadly by Connie Hair (more by this author)
Posted 07/26/2010 ET

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?print=yes&id=38227

The patchwork array of sanctuary cities around the country is leaving dangerous criminal illegal aliens on America’s streets.

Local municipalities in these sanctuary cities prevent their officials from reporting illegals—even those with criminal records—to Immigrations and Customs enforcement (ICE), and it is costing American lives.

Sanctuary cities are against the law. In fact they violate two federal statutes.

“The case against sanctuary cities is very straightforward,” Kris Kobach, principal author of the Arizona SB 1070 enforcement law told HUMAN EVENTS in an exclusive interview. “There are two laws that Congress passed in 1996 that expressly forbid sanctuary cities and they are found at Title 8 Section 1373 and Title 8 Section 1644 of the U.S. Code. Those statutes say in plain English that a city may not have a policy that prohibits its officers from communicating with the federal government about a person’s immigration status.”

There are numerous cities around the country that are clearly and flagrantly violating those terms of federal law. The Obama Justice Department doesn’t see these deadly sanctuary cities as a threat to public safety. They instead choose to spend taxpayer dollars suing Arizona for enforcing federal statutes.

“There is a big difference between a state or locality saying they are not going to use their resources to enforce a federal law, as so-called sanctuary cities have done, and a state passing its own immigration policy that actively interferes with federal law,” Tracy Schmaler, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Eric Holder, told The Washington Times.

Yet Kobach, a law professor and immigration law specialist holding degrees from Harvard, Oxford and Yale, said it’s the sanctuary cities that are illegal, not the Arizona law.

Kobach said the Justice Department is hard-pressed to find an argument to try the Arizona enforcement law in court.

“The federal government makes a very tenuous argument in its briefs that the reason it’s going after Arizona is that it wants to see the uniform application of federal immigration law across the country,” Kobach said. “The irony is that the Obama Administration is turning a blind eye to sanctuary cities which actually impair the uniform application of the law.”

Kobach points out the Arizona law will remove sanctuary cities in the state to achieve the very uniformity of federal law enforcement sought in the lawsuit.

“Arizona is not creating a new immigration regime. Arizona is merely insuring that federal immigration laws are actually enforced across the state. One critical provision of the Arizona statute actually removes sanctuary cities within Arizona which would bring about the more uniform application of the law that the Obama Administration claims it’s interested in seeking,” Kobach said.

San Francisco is one such deadly sanctuary city. In May of 2008, Anthony Bologna, a 48-year-old man driving home from a family outing, was murdered—along with two of his sons—by an gang member.

“Edwin Ramos was an illegal alien gang member of Mara Salvatrucha-13 who had been arrested by the San Francisco police on three occasions but because of the City of San Francisco’s sanctuary policy he was released on each time and no phone call was ever made to ICE,” said Kobach, who serves as legal counsel to surviving family members. “A few months after the third release, Edwin Ramos murdered Anthony, Michael and Matthew Bologna as they were sitting in their family car on the way back from a picnic after church. This was such an absolutely horrific murder that would not have happened if the San Francisco Police Department had picked up the phone and called ICE on one of those three occasions.”

“Many of the San Francisco Police Department officers would have loved to do so,” Kobach added. “They know that the sanctuary policy tied their hands but as a result of San Francisco’s sanctuary policy Anthony, Michael and Matthew are no longer with us.”

Kobach says ignoring the sanctuary cities shows the Obama Administration has misplaced priorities when it comes to public safety.

“San Francisco’s not the only place where sanctuary cities have resulted in the murder of somebody when that murder could have been stopped had the sanctuary city policy had been removed. This is happening all across the country and you have people in Washington, D.C., specifically in the Obama Justice Department and in the White House who are turning a blind eye to the carnage on our streets that is caused by sanctuary cities,” Kobach said.

“They would rather go after Arizona with taxpayer dollars when Arizona is simply trying to help the federal government enforce federal law. The sort of help that Arizona is providing is well established and fully sustained in the judicial precedence of the U.S. Courts of Appeals,” Kobach added.
