I am currently working as a Deputy assigned to the Patrol Division of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. In this capacity I conduct field investigations, take complaint reports and patrol various areas of the county, enforcing criminal and traffic laws.
In my law enforcement career I have developed skills in the handling of crime scenes, photography, evidence collection, and criminal investigation
In addition, I have served on several committees dealing with ballistic vests, uniforms, professional qualification standards, statistical data and training. I was selected to participate in a multi-agency training group appointed by the Governor of the State of Maryland, to provide training and information on terrorism and security.
I have received training in K-9 handling, Explosives, Environmental Crimes, Field training officer, Certified law enforcement and firearms instructor, and many other fields. I was a member of the State’s Major Incident Response Team and I am an instructor at the Western Maryland. I have also provided training/consult services for such corporations as Norfolk-Southern Railroad, Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Mack Truck, and Citicorp.
I have trained as a hazardous materials technician, and was trained by the Drug Enforcement Administration in Clandestine Drug Lab response. I have developed and taught an approved course on explosives to over 2000 public safety officials. I hold certifications in Fire and Explosion investigation, Hazardous Materials and Explosives and hold membership in the American College of Forensic Examiners. Many of these certifications are nationally recognized.
I have qualified as an expert witness in the Maryland Court System (Criminal/Civil) as well as courts in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and United States District Court for Maryland. I am Md. certified as a police instructor.
I have also developed public speaking skills, which have been used by previous and current Departments. I have been a featured speaker at several conferences including the Mid-Atlantic Women in Law Enforcement Conference, the International Association of Fire Fighters – Hazardous Materials Conference and the Governors Weapons of Mass Destruction Committee, to name a few.
