Get Maryland Moving Again– Statewide Town Hall Tour

Over the last couple of months, our great state has received some bad news on the “Economy and Jobs” front. First, we found out in March that BP Solar would be slashing 320 “green jobs” in Frederick because of high costs. Last month Northrop Grumman announced that it would be moving its headquarters (and new jobs) to Virginia, instead of Maryland. Now, in the midst of the worst economy since the Great Depression, a Montgomery County Councilman wants to implement a Carbon Tax which would result in higher energy costs for residents and businesses.

It wasn’t always this way. Just four years ago, Maryland was ranked as one of the best business climates in the country. Our sales tax was competitive and major corporations were looking to Maryland as a viable place to call home. That all changed in 2007, when Gov. O’Malley and the legislature hiked taxes by a record $1.4 billion on businesses and residents.

The liberals in Maryland just don’t get it – higher taxes means less jobs!

That is why AFP-Maryland will be touring the state over the summer to “Get Maryland Moving Again”. These public town hall meetings will be a great way for us to tout free market ideas and common sense solutions for unemployment, taxes, and budget deficits. The first stops on the tour will be in Hagerstown, Timonium and Annapolis in June. Our expert panelists will discuss how YOU can help make Maryland more competitive.

We need your help to make these events a success! We need to spread the word: lower taxes and a smaller government means higher job growth and greater opportunity.

You can register today for a “Get Maryland Moving Again” town hall meeting near you. Pass the website along to friends, families and neighbors and encourage them to attend. We have also included a new video that shows what our great state is up against!
