“Nepotism Reigns Under Governor O’Malley”

“The one-party monopoly that rules in Maryland reared its ugly head this week as Governor Martin O’Malley appointed the son of Thomas V. “Mike” Miller to a District Court judgeship in Anne Arundel County.

“In 2007, when the Trial Courts Nominating Commission for Anne Arundel County found Miller’s son unqualified and left him off the list of nominated candidates, O’Malley sent the list back.  In 2008, three Nominating Commission members resigned in protest charging that political interference occurred in what is supposed to be a nonpartisan process.  Nothing has happened in the last two years to make Mr. Miller any more qualified.

“This is just another example of the Democrat leadership abusing their power.  This arrogant behavior is exactly why we need a healthy two-party system in Maryland. We need checks-and-balances instead of one-party tyrannical rule.”

Authority: Maryland Republican Party, R. Christopher Rosenthal, Treasurer. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.
