May Day protest (Video) America’s Toughest Sheriff Tells California to “MYOB” Over Arizona Immigration Law The Education of Glenn Beck Posted: 02 May 2010 11:03 PM PDT On April 9, 2010, Newsweek ran an article entitled simply “Hate.” In it the magazine called Fox News host Glenn Beck “the master purveyor of…[a] particular brand of sly paranoia” and attempted to link him to antigovernment and militia organizations. Another article in the same magazine argued that Beck validates liberals’ worst fears about conservatives — that they’re “hyperbolic, demagogic, irrational, and slightly unhinged.” Chris Matthews has stated that Beck’s show is the one he can be sure he’d never go on and Cookie Roberts once called him “worse than a clown” and “more like a terrorist.” Time Magazine’s Joe Klein has accused Beck of coming close to committing sedition.Even people usually silent about politics have trouble restraining themselves when Beck’s name comes up.  To James Cameron, he’s a “madman” and a “fucking asshole.” The science magazine Discover referred to him as “an idiot.” According to the Washington Post, over 200 advertisers are involved in a boycott of Beck’s Fox News show. Whence this hatred? In popular imagination, right-wing talk show and radio hosts tend to get lumped together. But Beck has touched a nerve and causes anger beyond anything that O’Reilly, Hannity, or even Limbaugh have inspired. As much as he’s drawn the Establishment’s wrath, Beck has become a cult hero among many on the American Right. As an author, he’s hit #1 on The New York Times Bestseller List in four different categories. In 2010 he was invited to give the keynote address at CPAC. Explaining the unique hatred of Beck tells us as much about the elites as it does about the Fox host. For he is the only nationally known pundit, with the exception of Pat Buchanan (who lacks as big of a following), who challenges the beliefs that are presumed to be held by all “reasonable” people. For all their supposed love of “diversity,” those accepted into polite company share virtually the exact some view of American history — it’s a morality tale. Everyone considered mainstream believes that the Civil War, World War I, and World War II were worth fighting. Centralization of power in Washington, D.C. has saved Americans from segregation, poverty and exploitation, while it’s rescued the world from fascism and Communism. Liberals tend to focus more on the heroic former story and conservatives the latter, but in both narratives there is the theme of the American government as the force behind humanity’s slow moral, economic and social deliverance. Glenn Beck has emerged as the most well known challenger of this dogma. Veteran Resident – Mistreatment of White Resident-Patients by Black Domiciliary Staff Posted: 02 May 2010 11:02 PM PDT By Terry Richards This Writer filed a Federal Tort Claim and sued the VA in Tampa, Florida Federal District Court in 2001 for being verbally and emotionally abused, and for being wrongfully discharged early by VA employees while a Resident-Patient from October 1998-March 1999 at the VA Domiciliary at Bay Pines VA Medical Center located in St. Petersburg, Florida . The verbal and emotional abuse was in retaliation for my filing a complaint with the VA Inspector General and my Congressman and ”Blowing the Whistle” on Domiciliary Staff for physically, and verbally and emotionally abusing other Veteran Resident-Patients, and for mistreatment of White Resident-Patients by Black Domiciliary Staff (“Reverse Discrimination”), among other things. After 11-months in Court as Plaintiff Pro Se, in about August of 2002 I prevailed by settlement. Because of the confidentiality agreement I signed I am not permitted to disclose the amount or other details of the settlement. My Section 1151 claim that I also filed was denied after my settlement, and for a number of reasons I did not Appeal it. Pursuant to Section 1151 of Title 38 of the United States Code Service (U.S.C.S), there are several avenues of compensation available to Veterans who because of subtle or overt but real retaliation by intimidation against them by VA employees for blowing the whistle on VA Misconduct and now have a fear of going to a VA Medical Center for medical care or blood tests and/or the Veteran’s Medical Care or Prescription Medication is intentionally held-up or otherwise compromised by the VA and this results in the Veteran suffering physical, psychological, or psychiatric injuries. All of the above are wrongful actions and omissions associated with VA Health Care, VA vocational rehabilitation (pursuant to Chapter 31 of Title 38 U.S.C.S.), or participation in a VA Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program (Pursuant to 38 U.S.C.S., Section 1718), and Veterans can be compensated for it under Section 1151 claims and under the Federal Tort Claims Act. Cuvas is unworried. In LA the manager of the shop where he worked reported him as an illegal and he was promptly swept up and dumped back over the border. May Day protest (Video) Posted: 02 May 2010 11:02 PM PDT Because of the size and violent demeanor of the crowd, Santa Cruz police asked for help from all agencies in the county to break up the riot. Close to 20 businesses were damaged after a May Day protest in downtown Santa Cruz turned violent, requiring police to call other agencies for help, authorities said. Police spokesman Zach Friend said an estimated 250 people started marching through the city around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. It was a peaceful but “unpermitted and unsanctioned event,” he said, until some in the crowd started breaking windows and spraying paint on retail shops that line the downtown corridor. A fire was started in a coffee shop entryway but was extinguished once police cleared the way for firefighters, Friend said. Eighteen businesses were damaged, with the cost of repairs estimated at between $50,000 and $100,000. No injuries were reported. Friend said he wasn’t sure if the damage was caused by people marching in support of immigrants’ rights, or if the group had been “infiltrated by anarchists.” Anarchy signs were spray-painted on some of the buildings. “They’re a group of people who seem to fancy themselves as revolutionaries, but what they really are are a group of morons,” Friend said. America’s Toughest Sheriff Tells California to “MYOB” Over Arizona Immigration Law Posted: 02 May 2010 11:01 PM PDT Maricopa County (AZ) sheriff Joe Arpaio, who calls himself the “Toughest Sheriff in America” fired back at Californians who want to boycott Arizona over their newly signed tough new immigration law. He said, basically, that California should mind its own business. Arpaio, a controversial figure to some, and a hero to others, based on some of his practices, said, “Maybe they oughta worry about their own state. Keep their nose out of Arizona. We know what we’re dong here. I don’t understand why California has such a big problem. Maybe we should boycott California because there’s so many illegal aliens and crime there.” The new Arizona immigration law still hasn’t gone into effect. It takes 90 days for that to happen, once its been signed into law by the governor. However, it’s already raised hackles around the country. While that’s true, a new Gallup Poll indicates that 51 percent of Americans support the new AZ law. Additionally, at a Tea Party rally in Ramona, CA, last Saturday, GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter told the crowd that he supports the deportation of children of illegal immigrants, even if they were born in the United States. We stand with Arizona in enacting the same law here in Maryland and enforcing Immigration Laws that the law makers in Annapolis have continuously ignored. We are demanding that all counties put E Verify on the books to restore jobs back to the legal citizens and legal immigrants and to work with ICE to get 287g in all counties. This is what my Senator, Don Munson devoted 1 million dollars of tax money too a building for Casa, and he does not even reside in PG or MOCO County, but sides with those who are Delegates and Senators from those Counties. Maybe Tim Rowland of the Herald Mail can write a news worthy piece on this, but I doubt it, he is stuck to Don like glue.

The CASA book, Know Your Rights (PDF) tells illegal aliens not to carry "any documents from your country of origin" and that "providing your name" to a police officer "has risks" because "your name can be used to start a deportation process." Ask the officer to slip the warrant underneath the door. If you open the door and allow the official to come into the house, this may be considered giving him/her “consent” to enter. If s/he enters without a warrant, request the names and badge numbers of the officers and say that you did not “consent” to a search. Also, write down the names, addresses and phone numbers of anyone who witnessed the incident. Important! In some states, it is a minor crime not to provide your name when asked by a police officer. While punishment for these crimes is minor, you still could be arrested for not providing your name. Remember that providing your name has risks, and that your name can be used to start a deportation process. 1. MAKE A PLAN OF ACTION WITH YOUR CO-WORKERS Talk with your co-workers to see if they are willing to make a collective decision that everyone – regardless of their immigration status – will remain silent and ask to speak with an attorney in the event of a workplace raid. Tell co-workers not to run and to remain calm if there is a raid. If there is a union at your workplace, contact your union spokesperson to find out more about preparing for a raid. they even have a little cut out wallet card to hand to police that reads TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Please be informed that I am choosing to exercise my right to remain silent and the right to refuse to answer your questions. Friday, April 30, 2010 Hoyer foe comes out firing GOP’s Lollar launches bid for Congress by Alan Brody | Staff Writer Gazette ANNAPOLIS – Casting Congress as dysfunctional and out of touch with most Americans, Republican Charles J. Lollar on Thursday formally announced his bid to dethrone one of the highest-ranking and longest-serving representatives on Capitol Hill. Lollar, 38, of Newburg has been campaigning and raising money for months in preparing for a challenge to U.S. House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer. He has become one face of the national tea party movement, in part because of the energetic speeches he has delivered that offer sharp criticisms of Democrat rule in Washington. "We have a gentleman [in Hoyer] that is out of touch with the realities of taxpaying citizens and everyday decisions that we have to make in our community," Lollar told a group of about 25 supporters at Thursday’s formal announcement on Lawyers Mall outside the State House. Specifically, Lollar railed against a socialized agenda he said is being pursued nationally and laws that defy constitutional rights, citing the recent passage of federal health care reform as an example. He also defended gun rights and called for tougher immigration policies like the one passed by state lawmakers in Arizona last week. "The enemies I see today are not people as much as they are policies," Lollar said, referencing the oath he took more than a dozen years ago as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps to defend his country against domestic and foreign adversaries. While the GOP hopeful, who was scheduled to hold a fundraiser Thursday night in Prince Frederick with former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. and former New Hampshire Gov. John H. Sununu, struck an exuberant tone on a sun-splashed Lawyers Mall, toppling Hoyer (D-Dist. 5) of Mechanicsville is no easy task. In recent elections, Hoyer has been dominant at the polls, garnering at least 65 percent of the vote in every race since 1998. His closest margin of victory in a general election came in 1992, when he topped Republican Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. 53 percent to 44 percent. Hoyer, who won a special election in 1981 after then-Rep. Gladys Noon Spellman fell into a coma and her seat was declared vacant, also boasts $1.5 million in his primary campaign account and nearly as much in a separate fund typically used to dole out to other candidates. Lollar said his campaign has raised almost $200,000, but expects to bring in $2 million by the end of the race. This fall’s election is the first time since becoming majority leader in 2006 that Hoyer will have to defend his seat with a Democrat in the White House. That could be a vulnerability, said St. Mary’s College of Maryland political science professor Todd E. Eberly. "It helps him in some ways, but he also has a large target on his back because he is now firmly established as a member of Democratic leadership," Eberly said. "And because he’s a good foot soldier, he’s going to be painted with the brush of [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi." But Lollar still faces a steep uphill climb in November if he captures the Republican nomination over Charles County school board member Collins A. Bailey, the man Hoyer defeated in 2008. Eberly said the GOP might see him as their giant-killer candidate, similar to former Rep. George Nethercutt and Sen. John R. Thune, who unseated then-Speaker Thomas S. Foley (D-Wash.) in 1994 and incumbent Sen. Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) in 2004, respectively. Lollar disagrees, saying Hoyer is not a political giant. "I see him as un-American policies and just someone who is out of touch with true citizenship," he said, characterizing Hoyer as too liberal for the 5th District, which includes all of Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties and parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s. Hoyer’s campaign issued a statement defending Congress’ actions during a devastating recession and said the economy is on the path to recovery. "Congressman Hoyer shares people’s frustration with spending, and deficits, and he has fought for fiscally responsible policies like pay-as-you-go budgeting and the bipartisan fiscal commission that will recommend ways to balance the budget later this year," campaign spokeswoman Lisa Bianco said in the statement. "He is also working to turn the economy around and while there is more work to be done, the economy is starting to create jobs again and home prices are on the rise. Congressman Hoyer believes that we cannot go back to the irresponsible policies of the Bush Administration and will continue to work to rein in wasteful spending and bring our budget back to balance." National party leaders already have given support to Lollar’s campaign, and he expects that will continue through September and November. "We the people have to take back our country," Lollar said.
