Subject: JESSICA’S LAW IN DANGER(SB622) and SB395 STALLED (GET RID OF GOOD TIME CREDITS FOR SEX OFFENDERS)

Senate Bill 622 (2nd degree rape of a child mandating a 20 year sentence without parole) passed the Senate Floor with the exception of Senator Lisa Gladden who voted NO and Senator Delores Kelley who did not bother to vote at all. Senator Frosh voted in favor of both Senate Bill 622 (child rape – 20 years) and Senate Bill 395 (eliminating good time credits for sex offenders).
We have a problem and the problem is Senate Bill 622 does not match House Bill 254. They are the same bill with the exception that Senate Bill 622 calls for a 20 year mandate while House Bill 254 calls for a 15 year mandate without parole. In order for anything to happen at all, Chairman Vallario needs to take Senate Bill 622 and 395 out for a hearing immediately. It needs to be taken out for a hearing by Chairman Vallario as does Senate Bill 395. These bills go hand in hand. We need to take away good time credits from child rapists. The child rapist can earn up to 10 days of good time credits off of his sentence every single month. Senate Bill 395 is extremely important as well as Senate Bill 622.

The Governor has the power to make the phone call to Speaker Busch and Chairman Vallario and schedule these two bills (Senate Bill 622 and 395) for a hearing TODAY. House Judiciary will meet this afternoon and Senate Bills 622 and 395 are NOT on the list to have a hearing today.
