IMMEDIATE CALL TO ACTION: Pass MD House Joint Resolution #2. Delegate Mike Smigiel needs, and all Maryland citizens need, your help immediately!!!

Maryland House Joint Resolution 2 (HJ2) “Maryland Sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution” (sponsored by Del Mike Smigiel) is being purposefully TRAPPED in the House Rules Committee so as to kill the Resolution and prevent it from a public hearing and a vote in the MD House of Delegates! The House Rules Committee wants it to die. We want it to live!!! We want a public hearing and an eventual unanimous vote by both the MD House and the Senate before the end of the 2010 legislative session TO ASSERT MARYLAND’S US CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. The actual text of HJ2 may be seen as an attachment to this email. MD Government Link to the status of HJ2 is here:

http://www.facebook.com/l/13c2a;mlis.state.md.us/2010rs/billfile/hj0002.htm

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO MAKE SURE THIS IMPORTANT RESOLUTION LIVES?? MAKE A “JOYFUL” NOISE! SHOW YOUR DELEGATES THAT THEY REPRESENT THE CITIZENS OF MARYLAND!

1. WE NEED YOU TO SEND EMAILS AND TO CALL THE 23 DELEGATES ON THE HOUSE RULES COMMITTEE AND DEMAND THAT HJ2 IS RELEASED FROM THE COMMITTEE, SCHEDULED FOR A PUBLIC HEARING, AND VOTED ON BY BOTH THE MD HOUSE AND SENATE!

2. YOU MUST ALSO DEMAND THAT THE DELEGATES RESPOND DIRECTLY TO YOU WITH ANY REASONS AS TO WHY THEY DO NOT WANT HJ2 TO LEAVE THE RULES COMMITTEE. THIS WILL FORCE THEM TO RESPOND TO YOU AND BE ON PUBLIC RECORD AS TO WHY THEY DO NOT SUPPORT MARYLAND’S LEGAL RIGHT TO SOVEREIGNTY UNDER THE 10TH AMENDMENT TO THE US CONSTITUTION.

25 other states have introduced, passed, or are currently voting on similar 10th Amendment resolutions to restrict the Federal Government from illegally imposing any more unconstitutional, un-funded mandates upon the states. Don’t allow a few of your MD Delegates to deny our US Constitutional rights as a state.

Below are the email addresses and phone numbers of the 23 Delegates on the Rules Committee and instructions to create your own personal email to promote this Resolution:

Instructions:

1. Please copy and paste the list of email addresses seen below into the “TO” section of your email and put “Release HJ2 for Public Hearing” in the “SUBJECT” line.

2. Type up a simple email that says, “I want House Joint Resolution #2 to be released from the House Rules Committee immediately for a public hearing and a subsequent vote by the House of Delegates”. “I also want to know what is your specific reason why HJ2 has not been released from the Rules Committee, and why you are not supporting Maryland’s rights under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution!”

3. Put your name and Maryland city at the end of your email to prove you are a resident of MD!!

O’Malley’s Proposed Budget Skewered – Maryland Senate Republican Caucus

Maryland Senate Republican Caucus:

This week, legislators in the Maryland General Assembly will start the detailed analysis of the proposed budget. Based upon the initial reviews of Governor O’Malley’s 2010 spending plans by state editorial writers, legislators will have to do all the “heavy lifting” to correct the Administration’s flawed budget.

O’Malley’s four-year budget policy of “treading water” received resoundingly harsh criticism after release of the budget this week. His budget balancing act relies on federal hand-outs and state take-aways from funds dedicated to local governments.

The Washington Post opines, “The problem is that these are all one-shot deals. What Mr. O’Malley’s judicious maneuvering and creative accounting don’t solve is the larger problem starting next year and extending to the budgetary horizon.” (for full editorial, click here)

Media analysts also recognized this week that O’Malley’s budget spin this year is particularly hollow. The Governor’s press operation and Democrat party mailings claim the structural deficit and current budgetary problems are all blamed on former Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.

In response, the Baltimore Sun notes, “Former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. complained that his predecessor left him with $4 billion in out-year deficits, and Governor O’Malley complained that Mr. Ehrlich left him with $3 billion in shortfalls. But with this spending plan, Mr. O’Malley saddles himself or his successor with an $8.3 billion problem.” (for full editorial, click here).

O’Malley and his budget team have never seriously tackled the primary goal that Ehrlich was able to accomplish during his term.

The first step to resolving out-year deficits is to reduce government spending so that you don’t spend more than your revenues.

The best-run family finances know that if it is not in the checkbook, you forgo and don’t write the check. Unfortunately, the O’Malley Administration continues to spend using the taxpayer’s credit card.

O’Malley to seek sex law reform – But some say tough legislation on the books has been largely ignored

Clearly, the Governor is trying to save face in the light of the case of the 11 year old on the Eastern Shore being murdered by a known Sex Offender and Pedophile.  The Executive Branch of the Government in Maryland and the Judicial System clearly has dropped the ball regarding Sex Offenders.  Statements made by Delegate Chris Shank, clearly sets the tone of the Executive Office and their negligence in protecting our children (no blame placed here, an opinion).  Clearly, the Governor is going to do things his way, and his way only.

From the Washington Post – Governor O’Malley only Postponing the Pain

GOV. MARTIN O’MALLEY has submitted a budget that unabashedly employs a magician’s grab bag of tricks in a good, or at least defensible, cause: maintaining Maryland’s core services even as the state tries to claw its way out of the deepest economic crater in 75 years. Despite facing badly depleted tax revenue, Mr. O’Malley (D), who is running for reelection, has avoided further tax increases for the time being while limiting the pain of additional spending cuts and steep layoffs. In short, Mr. O’Malley has presented a defensible blueprint that will provide him with some political cover in an election year. But make no mistake: He has also ducked the tougher structural problems that Maryland, like most other states, is facing.

New Study Reveals, amongst his Conservative Party Members the Senate, Don “The Liberal” Rated 13th out of 14 Republican Senators

Senator Don Munson, Least Conservative Repub in State Senate

If you REALLY want proof… See More…I have done the monologue Accountability Project for two years (covering each session since 2007) and I grade the General Assembly on a much larger number of votes – usually 20 to 30 per regular session.

Delegate Shank had a rating of 78.02 in 2009 (12th among Delegates) and for this term overall his rating is 83.98 (5th overall among Delegates).

Conversely, Senator Munson had a 54.78 rating in 2009 (14th among Senators) and 56.87 for the term (13th among Senators). Remember, there are only 14 GOP Senators and they naturally occupy the top 14 spots since I rate from a conservative/libertarian limited government, pro-freedom, fiscally sound viewpoint. http://monoblogue.us/2009-maryland-general-assembly-voting/
