Cecil Calvert’s Synopsis of Future State Senator Christopher B. Shank’s Announcement and my thoughts

Cecil Calvert begins to Blog on future State Senator Christopher B. Shank.  As I begin to draw more Washington County Voters to my Blog, I will outline a future for the betterment of our County.  Last night, I was honored and privileged to attend House Minority Whip, Delegate Christopher B. Shank’s official announcement for State Senate against the Liberal Voting Republican Donald Munson.

When Delegate Shank spoke last night, I could only be reminded of the days when President Ronald Reagan addressed the Nation in his 1980 GOP Acceptance Speech.  Delegate Shank has a clear and precise view on how the Government in Annapolis and The Nation should be run.  He is a man of integrity, respect, family, faith, and utmost, TRUE CONSERVATIVE VALUES, something of which his competitor has lost touch with.  True Conservative Values and Principles.  His voting record will show you, how Delegate Shank has held his ground and has not caved in to special interest, the arm twisting tactics of the Speaker of the House and Senate President.  Donald (The Liberal) Munson on the other hand has.  He has sold out his vote to the Status Quo and has no FRESH IDEAS for Washington County, just the same old Rhetoric, much like his friends from the Left.  Please take time to watch and listen to Ronald Reagan’s acceptance speech from 1980.  A True man of honor, respect and one who gained the love of the people.  The greatest President of my Lifetime and while listening to Chris last night, I could not help but to reminisce about my days voting for Ronald Reagan and listening to him.

Remember these words, Freedom, Work, Peace, Fiscal Responsibility, Tax Relief.  He will work with all Governors of the United States as Delegate Shank will work with all those in the State Senate, but he will NOT compromise his Conservative Values and Principles.  Don Munson has done this, he has sold out his vote to the Liberals for his gains, not the gains of Washington County.

Delegate Shank touched on very important protocols, Fiscal Responsibility in Annapolis, Tax Cuts to bring business’s back to Maryland, Casa De Maryland, Job Creation,  Tax Increases supported by Donald Munson, and most importantly, voted to give Governor Martin O’Malley’s Staff pay increases.  Please visit the two links below.  These are facts that Donald Munson can not dispute. When pressed on Illegal Aliens last year, he refused to go on record with NBC25 when I brought them down to Annapolis.  Two Delegates went on record against Illegal Aliens, Delegate Christopher Shank and Delegate LeRoy Myers.  These two men stand for the principles for which I, and others fight so hard for.  True Conservative Principles and Values.

We need to reform Annapolis and remove the Status Quo, and to remove the Rino’s residing in their seats doing nothing but to harm the Citizens of Maryland and Washington County.  Mr. Munson, it is time for you to retire and enjoy the twilight of your life.  Sit back and watch how the process should work, no more selling out to the Left.

The support you got from Roscoe Bartlett, another Rino who has not introduced any legislation on his own in the last 20 years is against Term Limits, just like you.  Delegate Shank stands for Term Limits, Tax Cuts, Restoring Industry and Business’s back to Maryland.  Delegate Shank did not aid in the chasing out of the Business’s in Maryland, but you did, your Millionaires Tax increase forced Families and Business’s to cross state lines.

Your support of Casa De Maryland by allowing over a Million Dollars of Tax Payer money is immoral and unscrupulous.

Your support for Speed Camera’s and vote for, for which Washington County does not want is another clear view of your view of Liberalism.

As Washington County faces one of the Highest Unemployment Rates in Maryland at 10 percent, you assisted the left and gave them your vote to bloat the Government in Annapolis and the Budget.  You have failed Washington County in your last couple of terms.  Though I respect you for the assistance of getting the University System out here, what else have you done?  You had Senator Barbara Mikulski fund the rent for 3 years to get this up and going.  Again, a favor from the Left, what did you have to give in return?

As this campaign moves on, I will continue to notify the towns of Washington County about your voting record and support of Monies that went to Casa De Maryland which has harbored and assisted Illegal Immigrants and has used that money to put a pamphlet on their website on how to evade the law when approached.

What is your stance on the Federal Program 287g?  Do you support E-Verify?  Or, as is commonly know in the circles, I am not available for comment at this time.  As Washington County is funding Illegal Aliens at the cost of 36,000.000.00 Million Dollars a year, why have you not spoken up?  Now suddenly you are against Illegal Aliens in Washington County when  you went on Record with NBC25.  Again, as a politician, you did the typical, you back peddled, because you are in fear of loosing your seat.  As Delegate Shank put it, it is time for FRESH IDEAS, not the Status Quo and it is time for change.  I respect your 30 plus years in  office, but now it is time for new blood with FRESH IDEAS to take over and fix your mistakes.  And this must take place this year.

Myself, a Ronald Reagan Republican, you have swayed from your Conservative Values and Principles for your Personal Gains and this will no longer take place.

What is your view to put Washington County unemployed back to work?  Where is your Agenda?  You have not stated one, you skirt the issues, you do not attack them, and your time has come.

Open Letter sent to Congressman Roscoe Bartlett:

Congressman Bartlett, I have been an avid supporter of yours, but you have now lost my vote of confidence and will lose the votes of many others by backing Donald the Liberal Voting Munson. Not only has he voted for Tax increases, Speed Cameras, Money to Casa De Maryland which harbors and assists Illegal Immigrants, he also voted to give Martin O Malley’s cabinet Pay Raises and the Millionaires Tax increase in Maryland which has caused business’s and people to move across state lines. Since you have taken this stance, I can only assume that you have gone a sway with your Conservative Values and Principles. I am a Reagan Republican and I find your support to be very disheartening during a time when we need change and Fresh Ideas. Term Limits are needed in Maryland, both you and Donald Munson are against this. Have you checked Donald Munson’s Voting record before you made your choice as to who to back? If not, I suggest you look again, you will find a liberal voting republican, not conservative. I am very disappointed in you right now and now, you have lost my vote, 1 vote and a message to my friends in your district is not going to be good for your re-election bid. Signed, A very saddened Conservative, Cecil Calvert

Democrat Chief Of Staff Mike Enright to Resign from Martin O’Malley Staff to enter Private Sector

If there were any signs the writing is on the wall for O’Malley, look no further then his long time friend leaving his side to move into the Private Sector.  Maybe he will create Jobs for those in dire straights.  Not.

A Picture Says a Thousand Words – The antithesis of Maryland Dysfunctional Government

The 3 Evil Doers of Maryland

A pictures says a thousands words.  The antithesis of Maryland Dysfunctional Government.

Here’s a preview of our annual pre-General Assembly session editorial suggesting topics for lawmakers to take up during the next 90 days. Do you agree or disagree? What topics are we leaving out? The best comments will appear alongside the editorial in the print edition on Sunday.

Maryland lawmakers prefer the final year of a four-year term to be quiet and non-controversial as they face an election year. The General Assembly session set to begin this Wednesday is likely to prove nothing of the sort for a variety of reasons.

First and foremost, legislators are expected to struggle to pass a budget. Despite a promise of no growth in general fund spending, the state is facing more than a $1 billion shortfall in the next fiscal year and, after two years of falling tax revenue, will be forced to cut programs that have been cut before.

No resolution on new Western Maryland delegate – Mike Hough asks for both names to not be submitted to O’Malley

Local Republican committees last night were unable to agree upon who should become the next lawmaker representing Frederick County and a small portion of Washington County. A vacancy was created last month when the sitting delegate resigned to work for the new Frederick mayor, and Republicans are responsible for selecting a replacement.

Republicans from both counties interviewed Mike Hough, Charles Jenkins and John Lovell, all Frederick residents. Hough sits on the Frederick Republican Central Committee, which seemed to cause part of the strife. His committee voted for him last night, while the Washington County Republican Central Committee picked Jenkins.

The discord means Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley might get to choose the lawmaker representing a very Republican part of the state. He’d pick between Hough and Jenkins.

Kelly Schulz, chairwoman of the Frederick Republicans, said earlier this week that she had hoped the committees would be able to reach a singular conclusion. Last night she released this statement:

“After thoughtful discussion and deliberation, Mike Hough, was the chosen candidate to fill the vacant seat by the FCRCC. Charles Jenkins was chosen as the candidate by the WCRCC.

The final nominations will be hand delivered the Governor’s Office on Thursday morning. The Governor will have up to 15 days to make the appointment official. It is anticipated that the Governor will perform this important task prior to January 13th which is the beginning of the 2010 General Session.”

But wait!

This morning, Hough dispatched a statement of his own:

“In light of the unexpected split decision late Wednesday night (January 6, 2010) regarding the vacancy in District 3B, I am requesting that you not deliver my name nor Charles Jenkins’ name to Governor Martin O’Malley for twenty-four hours.

We were successful at Wednesday night’s meeting in narrowing down the choices to two names. Since the legislative session does not begin until next Wednesday, January 13, 2010, I am confident that we have time to resolve these differences so that we can present one name as our Republican delegate.

The Maryland Constitution clearly gives our party the responsibility to determine this replacement. Let us not abdicate our obligation as the Republican parties of Frederick and Washington Counties to make this important selection by leaving this decision to a Democrat Governor.”

I’ll post an update as soon as I hear more about what’s going on.
