Secret negotiations underway to finalize ObamaCare from GrassFire

They are doing it again… Reid and Pelosi are holding
secret, backroom meetings to put the final touches on
ObamaCare. I’m done with government working in the
shadows, away from public scrutiny. See below.   –Steve

We’ve just received word that congressional leadership will not
hold formal Conference meetings to resolve the difference between
the House and Senate ObamaCare bills.

They hatched the plan yesterday during a meeting with Obama’s team
at the White House. As a result, only a select few will work on
the final ObamaCare legislation — out of public view, free of
traditional governing rules, and without a single Republican!

And efforts to open these meetings up to the public have been rebuffed.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to a C-SPAN
request to televise the reconciliation process by saying,
“There has never been a more open process for any
legislation,” and hinted that keeping the public at bay
is the best way to push the legislation through.

“We will do whatever is necessary to pass the bill,”
Pelosi concluded.

With public opposition to ObamaCare continuing to build, Reid and
Pelosi are determined to use whatever political shenanigans
they can to pass this bill as quickly as possible.

Jeffrey, this is utterly despicable.

As an American who dearly loves my country, I cannot stand for
this kind of arrogant disregard for our rules and regulations.

These hearings must be brought to light — in full view of the
public and following the normal House-Senate procedures. And
we have to be the ones to demand as much!

Jeffrey, it’s no secret that Reid, Pelosi and their ilk
are determined to pass ObamaCare in time for the President’s
State of the Union Address. That’s just a few weeks away.

That is why we have to diligently use the time that remains to
put the ENTIRE Congress on notice demanding these secret
meetings be brought to light.

the American people don’t like secrets, and won’t stand for

BALTIMORE MD- More than 100 community leaders, activists from CASA de Maryland, and faith leaders are going to be taking action at a town hall meeting this Friday after the Rep. Luis Gutierrez introduced an immigration reform bill on Tuesday.

Activists plan on making over 400 hundred calls to the White House as well as Baltimore area Congressional Representatives Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) 2nd district, Elijah Cummings (D-MD) 7th district and John Sarbanes (D-MD) 3rd district, to ask for their support in swift passage of Immigration Reform.

“It is time to act and put pressure on President Barack Obama to fulfill his promise and support immigration reform. The immigrant community is organized and energized and see the introduction of this legislation as a call to action,” said Gustavo Torres, Executive Director of CASA de Maryland.

The introduction of Congressman Gutierrez’s Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity Act (CIR ASAP) is widely seen as the first step in what could be a long debate in Washington, and to date has over 90 cosponsors pledging their support. Hundreds of Immigrant groups around the country will be holding similar events on Friday to educate their communities about the content of the legislation and engage them in actions to move the political process forward. A summary of the legislation will be available at the event.

The activity at St. Patrick’s comes a few short months after the Baltimore City council passed a resolution urging Congress to act to quickly to pass reform legislation. According to reports by the Abell Foundation and others, the economic future of the City relies on its capacity to attract and retain immigrants – assets that bring economic activity to blighted neighborhoods through small business, consumer dollars, and housing investment. The Comprehensive Immigration Reform ASAP Act of 2009, H.R. 4321, was presented this Tuesday at a press conference attended by a crowd of legislators representing the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, and Congressional Progressive Caucus, and to date the only Marylander among the 93 original co-sponsors is Congresswoman Donna Edwards of Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.

“Our families are suffering, our communities are suffering, and the City has clearly endorsed the passage of immigration reform,” said Father Robert Wojtek, C.S.s. R., Pastor at St. Patricks where Friday’s event will be held. “We eagerly look forward to our Baltimore-area Congressmen responding to our call to action and joining the House leadership in co-sponsoring the Comprehensive Immigration Reform ASAP Bill,” said Father Wojtek.

I am writing today to let you know that I have decided to seek the Republican nomination for State Senate to represent Washington County in Annapolis.  I write you to humbly ask for your support.

Somewhere along the way our elected leaders have fashioned themselves our rulers rather than our servants–this must change!  We need new leadership and a commitment to reform to get headed in the right direction.  Thankfully, a new energy stirs throughout this nation.   This past spring and summer, we witnessed hundreds of thousands of Americans join together from across this nation in Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings.  They want their nation back!

In his farewell speech to the American people in 1989, Ronald Reagan said “I’ve spoken of the shining city all my political life, but I don’t know if I ever quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, windswept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity”. I am inspired every time I think of that City on a Hill, and I still believe in it.

The voters deserve a choice.  In this election, the people of Washington County will make an important choice about who represents them in Annapolis as their State Senator.  The Senate belongs to the people, not one person, even if they have held office for more than three decades.

I intend to articulate my ideas about government and make the case to the voters.  I do not pretend that this will be an easy choice to make.  Senator Munson has served this community for more than thirty-five years and I pay honor to that important service.

I respect him for his years of service, but it is time for new leadership, it is time for someone who will challenge the status quo that is leading this state in the wrong direction.  Too often when given this choice, our incumbent Senator has either been silent and not provided this leadership or, worse yet, voted the wrong way.

Over the next year, I intend to lay out my views about moving this state forward with conservative policies of pro-economic growth, limited spending, and government reform.  On these issues and many more, there will be a real choice between us, a real contrast for the voters to decide.  Senator Munson will need to answer for his decisions to abandon our conservative values and instead choose political expediency time and again.

We need to refresh our government–take it back.  Fill it with people who have new energy, who are willing to fight to return our values and bring back prosperity.  I’m willing to do my part and stand up, but I do need your help to achieve this victory.

Donald Munson has Negative Posts removed from his Fan Page on Facebook

Here is some information for the Munson Camp, if you are going to be public and create a Fans Page, you should allow everyone to see what is being posted.  It’s an open forum.  I don’t see other politicians removing their negative posts, but I do see negative posts being removed from Senator Donald Munson’s Fan page.  If you become a fan, and your post are not positive, you are simply removed from his page and your posts are deleted, courtesy of Ryan R Miner, Campaign Manager for Donald Munson.

This is just another example of hiding the truth from the voters of Washington County and the Annapolis Crew.  Don can not help himself, he has turned from his Conservative Principles and has a Campaign Manager that borderlines on, well, let’s just say, improper etiquette.  Here is a couple examples below:

Dear Mr. Gansler,

I am writing this letter to officially request that you join other attorney generals in the United States in a lawsuit against the federal health care reform act. According to the information being provided by the attorney generals, it is their contention that this legislation is unconstitutional based on the premise that it provides specific consideration to certain states. For example, Nebraska, Louisiana, Florida and Vermont are receiving a huge financial benefit by being permitted to pay decreased Medicaid costs. The taxpayers of Maryland will not only not receive this benefit, but will be required to subsidize the lost funding accrued by the unfair exemption allowed to the previously mentioned states.

I believe that the integrity, judgment, and professionalism regarding the Constitution and the law that the other attorney generals possess makes it clear that their action is needed. It is unclear to me why you would not be anxious to step forward and protect the interests of the taxpayers that we both represent.
